Extreme Fire Hazard In Sea To Sky Country

Extreme Fire Hazard Danger Dictates VOLUNTARY SMOKING BAN

Due to the current Extreme Fire Hazard Danger in the Sea to Sky Corridor, the Furry Creek Golf & Country Club has imposed a VOLUNTARY and SUGGESTIVE SMOKING BAN for all Guests on the Golf Course!

The Fire Hazard Danger in the Sea to Sky Corridor is rated as HIGH to EXTREME.  With little rain over the past two months and another week of dry weather predicted the Furry Creek Golf Course is taking a proactive approach to the situation.

Precautions to eliminate any potential Fire events on the course and within the Furry Creek community are being implemented as emergency fire department response is 20 minutes away.

This decision was taken in cooperation with the Furry Creek Community Association (FCCA).

Furry Creek Golf Shop, Player Assistants, First Tee Hosts and Guest Host will be informing guests about the current Fire Hazard conditions and closely monitoring activities:

  • Know that the fire hazard is very high and that this is a VOLUNTARY BAN but strongly recommend cooperation from ALL Golf Course Guests!
  • All carts staged at bag drop must have a laminated FIRE HAZARD notice on the seat or on the towel so that it is visible for all Guests to read
  • Guest Hosts are to point out the notice to all Guests prior to leaving the Bag Drop area
  • First Tee Hosts MUST include this “warning” in their First Tee Speech, point out the notice, and offer EVERY SINGLE Guest an ashtray.
  • Please make it clear to all Guests that if they HAVE TO smoke, that they must dispose of their cigarettes / cigars in the ashtrays provided
  • Player Assistants – (1) will monitor all groups and ensure Guests are cooperating with this policy, (2) ensure (Portable Water Supply) Pizz Can is filled and functioning properly, (3) report any and all concerns to the Golf Shop immediately.

Residents, Visitors and Guests in the Sea To Sky corridor should be aware of these Extreme Fire Conditions and be extra diligent with sources of ignition.

In the event that you spot a forest fire / wild fire in the area, Report It Immediately!
